Torah accessible at every level

Daat Torah is a halakha study platform designed to accompany every student — from the curious beginner to the seasoned Talmid Chacham — in a serious and structured study of the Torah.

Each text is presented at three levels: an accessible and pedagogical version (Base), a scholarly version with full pilpul (Lamdan), and a magisterial synthesis for review and memorization.

Initiated by Rav Yossef Haim Samama, the platform begins with Hilkhot Shabbat (Orach Chaim) and will progressively expand to all of Halakha.

"כִּי תוֹרַת ה' תְּמִימָה, מְשִׁיבַת נָפֶשׁ"
Tehillim 19:8 — The Torah of Hashem is perfect, restoring the soul.

Three study levels

Each topic is treated at three progressive depths, enabling everyone to study at their own level.

Daat AI — your study guide

An AI specialized in halakha, anchored in the primary sources, that answers with precision at the advanced levels.

📚

Strict Grounding

The AI only answers from sources referenced in the platform. If the information is not in the sources, it says so clearly — without inventing.

🎯

Multi-level

The same question receives an answer adapted to your level: pedagogical for the beginner, analytical for the lamdan, synthetic for review.

⚖️

Halakhic rigor

The AI systematically cites its sources (Shulchan Aruch, Rama, Mishna Berura…), distinguishes between levels of authority, and flags disagreements between Rishonim and Acharonim.

🌐

Multilingual

Answers in French with Hebrew citations. Eventually: Hebrew, English and Spanish. Torah study without a language barrier.

Sample dialogue — Siman רמ״ו, Seif Alef
"Can one rent a tool to a non-Jew before Shabbat if he will use it on Shabbat day?"
According to Halakha (O.C. 246:1), the Shulchan Aruch and the Rama agree on the prohibition. The Rama clarifies: "וכן עיקר כסברא האחרונה" — he rules according to the opinion of Rabbeinu Yona, the Rosh, and Tosafot, who forbid on account of שכר שבת (Shabbat wages) and נראה כשלוחו (appearance of agency). This prohibition applies even if the Jew is not present on Shabbat day.

An initiative for the community

Daat Torah was born from a simple observation: halakhic literature in French, accessible at every level, is still too rare. Thousands of Francophones — in France, in Israel, in Canada, in Morocco — deserve access to serious study in their own language.

Each text is carefully transcribed, translated, and annotated by Rav Yossef Haim Samama, with the concern of remaining faithful to the primary sources while making the concepts accessible.

The project starts modestly — a community platform — with the ambition of eventually becoming an international reference for halakha study in French.
