In the edition of the Shulchan Arukh this site copies, siman 169 has no text of its own: it is treated together with siman 168. This is not a gap in the digitisation, nor a gap in the work itself — it is the source that declares it. The heading of siman 168 reads קסח-קסט, and its twenty-seven seifim carry both subjects. The Tur, at siman 169, refers for its part to siman 168. In keeping with the site’s rule, no text is reconstructed or invented here: this page leads to siman 168, where the subject matter of 169 is studied.
The first seif of siman 168 opens with a heading that names two simanim, and announces twenty-seven seifim for both:
« קסח-קסט כמה דיני רבית הנעשית באמצעות העובד כוכבים. ובו כ״ז סעיפים » (שו״ע יו״ד קס״ח:א)
And the Tur, at siman 169, carries but one line — a reference. We copy it as it is served, Arabic numerals and all:
« ראו סימן 168 » (טור יו״ד קס״ט)
Two distinct declarations, and they agree. Siman 169 is therefore neither absent nor lost: it is merged into siman 168 by this edition. That is why the five pages of siman 169 on this site are bridge pages and not study pages: there is no text of its own to study, and we do not manufacture one.
Where the material is
The twenty-seven seifim of siman 168 read as two blocks. The first bear on money that passes through a non-Jew — the loan taken over, the intermediary, the agent. From the ninth onward, the question of the משכון, the pledge, occupies the siman to its end: a non-Jew’s pledge in a Jew’s hands, a Jew’s pledge in a non-Jew’s hands, and the arrangements that combine them. It is this second subject that the classical numbering calls siman 169.
One will also meet references to “siman 169” in the commentators themselves — the Taz, at siman 167, makes two. They point to the classical numbering, in which 169 is a separate siman. In the edition we copy, they lead inside siman 168.

⚠ This page neither cites nor reconstructs any Shulchan Arukh text for siman 169, since this edition gives none. The only two quotations above belong, one to siman 168 of the Shulchan Arukh and the other to the Tur; they are copied as they stand and referenced as such. Nowhere on this site will one read that siman 169 “does not exist”: it exists, and it is treated at siman 168.
