And it contains three seifim (ג׳ סעיפים): of any fragrant, desired dish that is brought, one gives a portion at once to the attendant (שמש) — it is a מדת חסידות (pious practice) to give him מכל מין ומין, from every kind ; one does not give him כל זמן שהכוס בידו — while the cup is in hand (his own or the host's) ; nor bread אא״כ יודע בו שנטל ידיו — unless one knows he has washed his hands ; one gives food אלא למי שיודע בו שיברך — only to one who will bless ; and the attendant recites בורא פרי הגפן over each cup he is given, לפי שהוא כנמלך — because he is like one who did not count on it, but the ברכה אחרונה only at the end, and he need not bless over each piece of bread if there is an אדם חשוב (important person) at the meal.
