Siman 131 — Kosher wine made on a non-Jew's premises
When the wine still belongs to the man in whose cellar it rests: the missing מירתת, the Jew who lives in the courtyard and counts as a guard, the door onto the street and its three equivalents — אשפה, חלון, דקל —, key and seal, the חותם בתוך חותם that here permits only benefit, the deposit with another non-Jew and כפוף תחת ידו, the התקבלתי receipt, and wine carried by sea (Shulchan Aruch, Yoreh De'ah 131 — 2 seifim)
והישראל דר בחצר מותר אפילו בלא חותם
And if the Jew lives in the courtyard — it is permitted, even with no seal at all. A neighbour, and nothing else: in this siman a presence guards better than two locks.
Shulchan Aruch, Yoreh De'ah 131:1

Hebrew text of the 2 seifim with a fluent English translation. The non-Jew's wine made kosher, the neighbour who dispenses with every seal, the door onto the street, the receipt and carriage by sea — explained step by step with concrete examples.
In-depth pilpul: the chakira of the seal — barrier or mark, the status of the neighbour between guard and domain, one Jew in the city or many, the question of גומלין between the Rambam and the Rosh, the machloket of the Baal haTerumot over the חותם בתוך חותם, and the ט״ס the Taz sees in the Rama's gloss.
Two master tables (the full grid of seif 1, the four equivalents of the public domain), the Shach's decision thresholds, golden rules, the « מירתת » mnemonic, classic pitfalls and a line-by-line recap of the 2 seifim.
The practical halakha according to the ש״ך, the ט״ז and the פתחי תשובה, then contemporary cases. Note: the Alter Rebbe did not write a Shulchan Aruch on Yoreh De'ah — this is a level of psak, not “Daat HaRav”.
Why is siman 131 stricter than simanim 128 to 130?
Because the wine no longer belongs to the Jew. The Mehaber opens: « ישראל שעשה יינו של עובד כוכבים בטהרה כדי שיהא מותר לישראל » (שו״ע יו״ד קל״א:א). All the protection of the preceding simanim rested on the non-Jew's fear of being caught; here the wine is his, and if unmasked he loses only a sale. The Taz says it in one line: « שאין עובד כוכבים מרתת מליגע כיון שהוא שלו מה שאין כן ביין של ישראל ברשות עובד כוכבים דמותר בחת״ח או בחותם אחד בדיעבד דמרתת טפי » (ט״ז יו״ד קל״א ס״ק ג). For the application to your situation, consult your Rav.
Does a Jew living in the courtyard really suffice, with no seal at all?
Yes, and it is the most surprising result in the siman: « והישראל דר בחצר מותר אפילו בלא חותם אפילו אם העובד כוכבים גם כן דר שם » (שו״ע יו״ד קל״א:א). The Shach supplies the exact qualification: « והישראל דר בחצר. דחשיב כמו שומר דסגי ביוצא ונכנס כן כתבו הפוסקים » (ש״ך יו״ד קל״א ס״ק ב). But he also recalls the boundary, drawn from siman 129: the leniency falls as soon as the guard has announced his absence — « ויוצא ונכנס. אע״פ ששהה זמן רב אם לא הודיעו שמפליג » (ש״ך יו״ד קל״א ס״ק ט). For the application to your situation, consult your Rav.
Do two seals suffice where no one can see?
No — and this is the one place in the block where the double seal fails: « אסור אפילו בחותם תוך חותם עד שיהא ישראל יושב ומשמר ויוצא ונכנס הרי הוא כיושב ומשמר » (שו״ע יו״ד קל״א:א). The Beit Yosef reports the consensus in the firmest terms: « וכתב הרשב״א בתשובה שכך היא הסכמת הגאונים והר״מ והרא״ש שיינו של נכרי שטיהרו ישראל ונתנו בחצר שהנכרי דר שם אין לו תקנה ואפי׳ בכמה חותמות אלא כשישראל יושב ומשמר » (בית יוסף יו״ד קל״א). The Rama nevertheless reports a lenient view and settles on a middle position: « ויש לסמוך עליו להתירו בהנאה אבל לא בשתייה » (רמ״א יו״ד קל״א:א). For the application to your situation, consult your Rav.
What does the התקבלתי receipt change?
It takes the wine out of the strict regime of this siman: « ואם כתב העובד כוכבים לישראל התקבלתי אם כשיבא ישראל להוציאו אינו מעכב עליו הרי הוא כיינו ומותר במפתח וחותם » (שו״ע יו״ד קל״א:א). The Shach makes clear that a mere contract of sale, even an irrevocable one, does not suffice: « דוקא כ׳ לו התקבלתי או שזקפו עליו במלוה הא לאו הכי אפילו קנאו ממנו בפני עדים כדרך מקחן של עובדי כוכבי׳ שלא יוכל א׳ מהם לחזור המקח אסורים » (ש״ך יו״ד קל״א ס״ק י״ג). For the application to your situation, consult your Rav.
Why does seif 2 permit unsupervised carriage by sea?
Because the carrier has paid: « עובדי כוכבים שקונים יין מישראל ומחתימין אותו חותם בתוך חותם ומוליכין אותו כמה ימים בספינה לבדם מותר » (שו״ע יו״ד קל״א:ב). The Tur gives the reason in the name of Rabbenu Tam: « אבל כשמוליך יין למרחוק בטורח גדול והוצאה מרובה וגם קנה אותו חש לטרחו ולהוצאתו ולא יזייף » (טור יו״ד קל״א). The Bach, reported by the Shach, nevertheless wants specifically a seal within a seal here and not a single one. For the application to your situation, consult your Rav.
